You can bid for your very own enormous Japanese lanterns
New York is losing two Japanese establishments that made the Meatpacking District cool; Matsuri and Hiro Ballroom at the Maritime Hotel are officially closing, after being sold to Marc Packer of Lavo and Tao.
So naturally, the former owners are auctioning off both venues' contents, including gigantic handmade lanterns, flatware, and flooring.
The live auction by Michael Amodeo & Co. will take place April 4 from 2 p.m. onwards. Previews run from April 2 to April 3, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and April 4, noon to 2 p.m.
To give a sense of price, the Japanese lanterns combined were bought for more than $15,000, while the walnut floors cost $20,000. Something to decorate your home with, we guess.
